{"id":763,"date":"2013-04-18T17:45:13","date_gmt":"2013-04-19T00:45:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/peninsulasportsman.com\/?p=763"},"modified":"2013-05-19T12:29:02","modified_gmt":"2013-05-19T19:29:02","slug":"steamer-clams","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peninsulasportsman.com\/site\/blog\/steamer-clams\/","title":{"rendered":"Steamer Clams"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sure is fun heading down to the tideflats on a spring day for some steamer clam digging&#8230; and the rewards for a half hour spent digging in the mud ?\u00a0 Good times and a heck of a\u00a0clam\u00a0dinner for the crew.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Tiffany&#8217;s Port Townsend Steamer Clams<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2-3 limits fresh Manila or Native Littlenecks in shell\u00a0( approx. 3 lbs)<\/li>\n<li>32 oz. organic vegetable broth<\/li>\n<li>fresh basil<\/li>\n<li>2 tablespoons\u00a0minced garlic<\/li>\n<li>one can tomatoes, diced<\/li>\n<li>1\u00a0tablespoon olive oil<\/li>\n<li>sea salt to taste<\/li>\n<li>glass of chardonnay ( for the cook , dash for the clams )<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Rinse and scrub clams. Combine broth, basil, tomatoes salt\u00a0and garlic in a deep Paella pan or pot, cover and bring to a boil. Add clams and bring back to boil on simmer- clams are done when they have all opened fully.
